Finally got to jailbreak my iPod Touch after much delay. Didn't bother jailbreaking my iTouch when I first got it a few months back but I decided to try things out now.

See that little app on the dock there called Cydia? Once your iPod Touch or iPhone is jailbroken, it will be installed and will allow you to download tons of third party stuff not available in the official app store. Plenty of customization options here too including changing themes etc.

Downloaded this app called mxTube. It allows you to download and save videos from YouTube onto your iPod Touch which is really great since you can't do this with the normal YouTube player which comes with the original firmware.

I used redsn0w 0.3 to jailbreak my iTouch running on 2.2.1 firmware. Everything went smoothly. Encountered no problems with the thing getting stuck or whatsoever. There's a guide here to jailbreak your iTouch if you are using 2.2.1.

And to humour you ^_^ . That's how I feel after jailbreaking my iTouch.... Well, kind of.

Still trying out the other apps available on Cydia. Will update if I find any cool ones.

Apple has announced at WWDC 2009 (Worldwide Developers Conference 2009) of the new version of the iPhone.

Copy and Pasta!! =p

This new iPhone labelled as the iPhone 3GS has several new features over the iPhone 3G notably:

• 3.0 Megapixel Camera with autofocus and macro mode
• Cut, copy, paste - finally..... a basic feature that was overlooked by Apple
• Landscape keyboard
• MMS functions
• Voice recording
• Video recording and editing
• Voice control
• Voice memo
• Compass - Yes. A compass. LOL!
• Spotlight search

The iPhone 3GS will come it 16GB and 32GB flavours for its storage capacity.

Appple will also be releasing a new firmware update which is the iPhone OS3.0 which allows previous iPhone models and iTouch to support some of the new features like copy and paste and Spotlight search.

The only gripe I have is that I will have to fork out USD 9.95 for new firmware for my iPod Touch where else iPhone users get will be able to get the update for free >.< . Oh and you need to update your iTunes to version 8.2 too in order to support the new firmware thing for installation when you decide to get it.

What is that you say? The PSP GO?

The PSP GOowill co-exist with the PSP-3000 though since Sony doesn't intend to discontinue production of the PSP-3000.

Among the features of the PSP GO are 16GB of internal flash memory (hence no UMD drive) , Bluetooth and a  3.8" LCD which seems to be smaller than the PSP-3000 or any other previous PSPs.

I don't see myself getting this one anytime soon. Not much changes over the previous PSPs not to mention the ugly design.

Behold... The Zune HD

Microsoft has recently announced the release date of the Zune HD which is scheduled to be sometime in September this year.

The Zune HD has the specifications listed below: * 3.3 inch OLED display touch screen (480x272 16:9 resolution).

• 3.3-inch screen and 16:9 OLED display (480x272 resolution)
• Multi-touch technology (Capacitive touch screen similar to that of the iPod Touch)
• Flash memory
• Built-in accelerometer
• Flash memory
• HD radio receiver
• HDMI connection, for video streaming to HDMI compatible TVs
• 720p high definition video support and output (additional dock required)
• Wi-Fi connectivity
• Web browser

According to Techradar.com,

"Zune Video, a 'revised' service to the current US Zune Marketplace, will arrive in the UK on Xbox Live, as well as in the US, France, Italy, Germany, Ireland and Spain."

Hands on video for the Zune HD

In my opinion, the Zune HD might be a cheaper alternative to the iPod Touch and looking at the current specs, its looking like a good competitor to be for the iPod Touch lineup. No word on what the memory storage configurations will be though.  Radio seems like a good option if you ever get bored of listening to the music stored in your player. The iTouch doesn't have this feature though you can stream music from apps like last.fm.  I will  be sticking to my iTouch for the moment ^^;
