Dualshock 3 Controller

My Dualshock 3 that I ordered is here =D. Well actually I got it around a week ago but haven't updated my blog with stuff yet. Long back log of stuff that needs to be posted >_<.

I ordered the DS3 from Play Asia and it took almost 2 weeks + for it to arrive. PA's free airmail shipping is usually really fast and sometimes can arrive in as short as 5 days =) . Unforutunately, it was shipped during Xmas peroiod which slowed things down. You can grab one from PA here. I used the Christmas coupon for my purchase so I got it cheaper.

No dents or squashes. Phew..

Complimentary lanyard from Play Asia in the package xD . Was surprised to find it in the box. I was about to dump the box away since its filled with those white foam and the lanyard was quite hidden from sight ^^;

Like the plastic and light reflection here.

The one I got is the black DS3. Comes in many other flavours such as silver, blue, white and red.

Dualshock 3 and Sixaxis label on the controller. The DS3 is meant to replace the Sixaxis which does not come with rumble a.k.a. force feedback.

Got the DS3 to replace my Sixaxis since my PS3 wasn't bundled with the DS3. Play-Asia offers differsion region versions of the DS3 which are US, Japan, Asia. Just go for the Asia one. I didn't bother about the rest since the Asia version is cheaper and all DS3s are identical. They probably have the different regions for price control like how R2 games are more expensive.

Oh and speaking of PS3 related stuff....

Hmmmmmmm.

Will probably order the English version of FF XII but the lack of dual audio selection for the voice overs is a turn off OTL.

Star Ocean The Last Hope for PS3

Its official. Star Ocean The Last Hope or SO4 will be heading to the Playstation 3 on February 4th, 2010. The title which used to be an Xbox 360 exclusive will feature several improvements in the upcoming PS3 release.

The version being released for the PS3 next year is known as Star Ocean The Last Hope International and will have some exclusive features for the exclusive PS3 release. First of all is dual audio (voice over in Japanese or English). At least they put the capacity of a Blu-ray disc to good use! xD . Other than that, there will be a choice for Japanese, English together with German, French and Spanish subtitles.

The game will also have some changes to the menu and battle system.

Screenshot of the game though this is from the Xbox 360 version. Best of all, the US version will go on sale at the same time as the Japanese release so you don't have to wait for the different region versions.

Rumor: Microsoft exclusivity deals funding PS3 development in Japan

What do Vampire Rain, Tales of Vesperia, Lost Planet, Eternal Sonata and Enchanted Arms all have in common? Aside from being developed in Japan, every one of them landed on the Xbox 360 "exclusively" first, only getting ported (sometimes with additional content) to the PlayStation 3 a year or so later. One Japanese developer claims the exclusivity agreements are being used in lieu of financial help from Sony for game development -- essentially saying that Japanese developers are using Microsoft's capital to develop temporarily exclusive 360 games with the intention of inexpensively porting the games to PS3 later on.

"It was easier developing for the Xbox 360 ... if you sign an exclusive contract with Microsoft (you won't release it on other hardware for a year or similar), they will give you a lot of cash for development," read a Japanese developer's post (the original post has since been removed), translated by Sankaku Complex (site NSFW). "As a result, first you develop for the Xbox, reducing development costs. But the Xbox version won't sell [in Japan]. So they port it to the PS3 ... it's cheaper as you already have the game done."

Though they didn't work on it, the developer claims to have seen this policy in practice with Tales of Vesperia. As Kotaku points out, it's quite possible that the dev did see such a practice on Vampire Rain, a game the mystery developer says they worked on.

Fate/Unlimited Codes

This post will be a brief run through on the game Fate/Unlimited Codes for the PSP. The game is developed by Cavia and published by Capcom. For your info, its actually a port of the PS2 version of the fighting game.

The playable characters here remain the same as the PS2 version. The only thing which kinda sucks is that they took away the game's theme song "code" by Tainaka Sachi for the PSP version OTL. You can find most of the charactes from the series here.

There are a few modes of play namely Arcade which has a little story in it though I don't understand most of it since its in Japanese >.< . Basically in Arcade mode, your goal is to beat 8 opponents to clear it.

Then there's mission mode where you have to follow the instructions and perform moves etc. to complete it.

The other modes are the normal VS CPU or 2P mode where you can fight it out with another friend who also has Fate UC in their PSP. The multiplayer mode here works over the PSP's ad hoc Wifi.

The last mode is Survival which must be unlocked before you see it in the menu. To unlock Survival mode you have to beat Arcade mode 10 times. You will also unlock Endless Survival mode by clearing Survival mode once which is 16 wins. You will unlock Ultimate Difficulty once you obtain 32 wins in Endless Survival mode.

Other unlockable stuff include characters. To unlock Leysritt, you have to beat Araced mode 5 times and for Saber Alter 8 times. I still havn't managed to unlock Zero Lance but he will appear randomly during Arcade mode and beat him to unlock him.

The Saber Lily costume can be unlocked by clearing Arcede mode using Saber and Saber Alter.

The AI for the PSP version seems to be a little toned down comapared to the PS2 one in my opinion ^^. Nevertheless, its still a fun game to play with. The fighting is fast paced so button mashing will work... most of the time, I think xP.

Final Fantasy XIV Online

Square Enix recently confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV which is an online MMO, will be heading its way to the PS3 and PC.

The news was announced during Sony's Press conference at E3. Both versions will be released sometime in 2010.

I personally haven't played FF11 before but the graphics for this version looks pretty good. Its highly likely that this game would be subscription based too like FFXI.

Sony PSP Go

What is that you say? The PSP GO?

Sony has officially announced at E3 that they will be producing and releasing the PSP Go in the not too distant future.

The PSP GOowill co-exist with the PSP-3000 though since Sony doesn't intend to discontinue production of the PSP-3000.

Comparison between the PSP-3000 and PSP GO

Among the features of the PSP GO are 16GB of internal flash memory (hence no UMD drive) , Bluetooth and a 3.8" LCD which seems to be smaller than the PSP-3000 or any other previous PSPs.

I don't see myself getting this one anytime soon. Not much changes over the previous PSPs not to mention the ugly design.

Its so ugly that.......

Lol, that's right. Someone actually made references with the design and a certain character from the South Park series.
