Vocaloid Plushies

More Vocaloid plushies are on the way. Pre-orders are now open for Kagamine Len an Rin plushies.

As usual, they are manufactured by Gift.

Both of them retails for 3500 yen and will be released in December.

And then there's Kaito. He has already been released but is out of stock at most stores at the moment so there is a pre-order opened for the re-release. In stock in December as well.

Based on what Gift is doing.... I expect that more Vocaloids will be released soon to complete the family. Haha

Gift Hachune Miku Plush

Yay! I just acquired this super cute Hatsune Miku plush not long ago. Its somewhat a nendoroid since it has a huge head and small body xD.

The full name of this product is..... Nendoroid Plus Plushie Series 02: Hachune Miku and is manufactured by Gift. I didn't know that Gift manufactures plushies up till now.

Retails for 3500 yen and was initially released in September 2009. The one I got is the re-released batch.

Here, you can see the relative size of the plushie. Was not as big I expected it to be. Partially cause the ones in the product shots looks oh so big xP.

She comes with the trademark Hachune Miku facial expression hence the name lol. Made popular with Miku with this face waving her leek back and forth.

Stubby hand which is so darn cute.

Her twin tails are soft and fluffy. Its flexible too with some kind of support mechanism in the tails so that it will hold its shape.

There's another version of this plushie featuring the regular Hatsune Miku face. Will be getting that one sometime soon.

Overall, I'm really satisfied with this plushie. Its just so cute!!!

Nyan Type Volume 2

Just received this at my doorstep, this month's issue of Nyan Type. This is the second volume of the Nyan Type magazine which began publication recently by Kadokawa Shoten. Its a spin off from the Newtype magazine but features different stuff.

Nyan Type is basically a magazine which features plenty of bishoujo characters from various anime and Japanese computer/console games. Its something similar to Megami magazine. I'm not sure whether this magazine will be a monthly magazine since the first volume is the June issue. The next one is due to be released late this month (these kinds of magazines are usually released earlier than month of publication stated on the magazine).

Hatsune Miku Live @ Animelo

What happens when you mix Hatsune Miku and a live crowd??

This is the first time Hatsune Miku has ever performed "live" in front of a crowd. If you are wondering how, watch the vid ^^. Pretty cool stuff here.

Animelo is a concert on anime song performances which was held recently in Japan. There is an English page on the official site here. The rest of the stuff is in Japanese.

There are other notable performances and artists as well. Must get hold of the full recording of the concert somehow =p

Otaku Encyclopedia

The Otaku Encylopedia.... That's the title of a book that I was wanting to get and here I have it ^^. I didn't really expect to find the book in Malaysia though.Got the book from Kinokuniya in KL because I heard that Kinokuniya in Singapore has it so I decided to try out my luck. Though they do have a website to search for their books and such, its kinda messy and hard to navigate.

The book is written by Patrick W. Galbraith and published by Kodansha International. You can find some additional info on their site here but its basically the same stuff printed in the book.

The book covers a wide range of terms related to the otaku subculture and what not. There are a lot of Japanese related terms and there is some kanji and kana next to the Japanese words. Its listed alphabetically just like what you find in a dictionary ^^; only that this one has pictures and stuff as you flip through the pages to make it more interesting.

There are a lot of terms and they are explained in detailed. Some of which even I have not come across before ^^; . Had a nice read through it, will probably continue and complete reading EVERYTHING in it when I have the time.

There are also brief sections where there are interviews with people realated to the otaku culture/industry etc. Here we have the lovely Shokotan ^^ .

I enjoyed this book but its kind of pricey after the currency conversion. Still, its a good book to have if you wish to know more about all things otaku related.

Evangelion Keitai Pre-orders Sold Out

It seems like Evangelion fans in Japan can't wait to get their hands on this phone. Just hours after NTT DoCoMo began taking orders for the Evangelion phones, all of the 20000 pre-order units had been sold out according to Anime News Network.

The phone which is only produced in limited quantities by Sharp for NTT DoCoMo is being released in conjuction with the 2nd "Rebuild of Evangelion" movie of the 4 part trilogy later this year.

Only 30000 units of this phone are produced and the remaining 10000 will be sold on the release date itself. Looks like the chances of getting this phone outside of Japan is rather slim or has already gone down the drain ^^; Even if it does end up on sites like eBay, the prices or auctions prices will most definitely be jacked up.

I'm interested in the movie which is going to be released soon but don't know when it will end up over this region. Took about a year for the previous movies to make it to the cinemas here and they even censored out some scenes *facepalm.jpg*

C2AGE 2009 @ HELP University College

This is a bit late but I will post the coverage of the event here anyways ^^;

C2AGE is a comic, games and anime convention that is held in HELP University College anually. This is the 3rd time that this event is being held. The event took place on the 16th of May this year. Its my first time to C2AGE too.

That pretty much wraps up everything. They had a few movie screenings and I went in there for awhile to watch. They were showing "The Girl Who Leapy Through Time" then. I thought the sound quality in the theatre was rather bad though. The audio sounds mushed up. Haha.

I didn't see many booths selling stuff or doujin material too. Overall, the event was quite enjoyable with the actvities they had there. Didn't win anything for the lukcy draw.. but I wasn't paying attention when they were calling out the ticket numbers at first OTL.

So there you have it, C2AGE for you =p. Stay tuned for more events coverage in the future =D
